Employee Spotlight: Getting to know Todd Patch, Software Architect

For this next Employee Spotlight blog, we are excited to introduce Todd Patch, Software Architect, who has been with Loftware since January 2003. Based in our corporate headquarters in Portsmouth, NH, he has made significant contributions to Loftware’s growth and innovation and continues to do so in the ever-evolving tech landscape.  

A journey of curiosity

With a lifelong curiosity about how things work, Todd’s passion for technology began at a young age. Anything with “some assembly required” was a selling point for Todd, as he was eager to understand the mechanics of a product; a hobby that eventually evolved into a career as a software architect. Today, he enjoys the dynamic environment of developing new products, learning about cutting-edge technologies, and solving complex problems.

Embracing our culture

Having started his career at Loftware 22 years ago, he was originally drawn to the company after a chance meeting with a longtime employee at a local hobby club. After years of commuting to Boston and wanting to work closer to his residence in the Seacoast area, he found Loftware’s vision and culture to be a perfect fit. 
One of the aspects he appreciates most about Loftware is its open culture, stating “Loftware has always had a culture of approachability. Through the years, relationships have been formed across the whole landscape of the organization.” This supportive environment has played a vital role in his professional growth over his tenure at Loftware.

Recent career achievements  

Recently, Todd has been proud to contribute to Loftware's significant strides in providing SaaS solutions. This transition not only reduces the on-premise footprint but also empowers customers to focus on their core business processes, while minimizing capital expenditures and system maintenance responsibilities. 
For newcomers to the field, he emphasizes the importance of curiosity: “Expanding one's curiosity and examining tasks from different perspectives can lead to a deeper understanding and innovative solutions.”

Beyond the office

Outside of work, Todd also has a passion for woodworking and home renovation projects; skills that surprisingly translate well into his role, noting the similarities. “These skills translate well into software architecture, where I need to design complex systems, ensure all components work harmoniously, and maintain a balance between creativity and structure”, he says. 
Todd also enjoys a range of outdoor activities, including skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and boating.  With a grounded perspective, he adds, “I can’t live without my wife—she keeps me balanced and is a great ski partner!”
